Having worked in an intense banking and realty environment, and then taking a year off for my first born, I discovered that rest and recreation are important parts of family life – to mine, as much as to anybody else’s.

Due, partly, to the joy of this discovery, I have felt a need to share my family’s recreational and social “space” with other moms, other families, and the Cape Town family in general. The changes that have taken place in my own personal life – from finance and property, to family – have definitely influenced my approach to the organization of The Constantia Gift Fair, 2011. It is a privilege for me – and all who are involved with The Constantia Gift Fair – now to offer Cape Town a social event that promises to deliver some of the finer things in life.

Things such as good food, good wine, and an opportunity to meet, mingle and gift shop – all at the same time. This opportunity is especially suited for busy moms, looking to entertain their children, whilst in stunning, stylish, and – very importantly – safe surroundings. While your kids enjoy creative art and play stations or riding a pony, I invite you to linger, relax, and enjoy exotic al fresco lunches, or high tea, sensational gourmet delights and local wines, as well as the wide range of gifts exhibited by our vendors. We are also running a Facebook competition. A lucky person who “likes” our Facebook page will receive a selection of gorgeous items, taken from this year’s showcase. Giveaways, which are sponsored by our vendors, will also be a daily event at the Fair – another great reason to do your end-of-year shopping at the Fair.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Warmly,
Carryn

2011A GIFT FAIR bigger and better than before

The Constantia Gift Fair – previously held as The Christmas Gift Fair – has handpicked unique and sought-after exhibitors for this year’s most anticipated festive shopping experience. Apart from this once-off shopping experience in the lush countryside of Constantia, the fair also offers recreational areas and activities for all, including entertainment by The Kronendal Music Academy Jazz Band which will be playing on the 22nd and 23rd October from 11 am to 3 pm.

Exhibitor numbers promise to reach an overwhelming figure this year. Brand names include Boudoir Collections, Sweet Temptations, Blue Sky Organics, Milk & Honey, Flick Glass, and Tamarillo Ceramics – to list but a few. The event’s inspiring and creative showcase ranges from exotic home and garden goodies, fluffy and cuddly children’s gifts, to exquisite fashion wear and body essentials. Support local entrepreneurs: Buy your upmarket items of jewelry, home décor, delicious confectioneries, and exquisite plants, aromatic bouquets and posies, and tasteful ceramics at our fair!

The entrance fee to the fair will be donated to the South African Riding for the Disabled Association (SARDA), established 37 years ago by Belinda Sampson, whose son, Andrew, suffered from cerebral palsy. SARDA – the hosts of this year’s fair – has branches throughout South Africa, offering a uniquely therapeutic and uplifting experience to hundreds of disabled people every week.

Please keep an eye out for our press releases in Country Life, Garden & Home, The Gardener, GetAway and other local magazines and publications. Many thanks to SARDA for providing the Constantia Gift Fair a GIFT FAIR bigger and better than before with a venue. Many thanks also to the Caxton Group, who has promised sponsorship of back-issues for the event, and also to QuickFox Publishing & Communications for passionately driving our media campaign forward. Finally, thanks to all our vendors and exhibitors – whose participation will make this an exceptional fair.
